If Not In School, outside of classroom – Rowing My Crew!

My weekends are filled with rowing, my new recreation!

I was in high school swimming competition team before joining current school, OSSM (The Oklahoma school of science and Mathematics). Our residential school OSSM, is free, state funded and designed to educate academically gifted high school juniors and seniors in advanced mathematics and science. No swimming, No regular high school sports, only crew. One of the tough choices I made with my life with lot of thinking and accept standards that are lower than is desirable is my sports. My Sunday are on water instead of in water, a compromise! And I am having fun.
The spring 2018 OKC RIVERSPORT Youth League Championships took place on May 12. Athletes from U.S. Grant, NW Classen, Santa Fe South, ASTEC, Roosevelt Middle School, and OSSM put school pride on the line as they race 500-meter sprints on the Oklahoma River for the coveted SandRidge Cup.Check out the results! Our team won 3rd place.

THE OKC RIVERSPORT Youth Rowing League gives Oklahoma City area middle school and high school students an opportunity to learn a unique Olympic sport on the Oklahoma River. 200 athletes from eight high schools and six middle schools participated in the 2018 spring season. The athletes learn to row first on indoor rowing machines and then in racing shells on the water. The seasons are 11 weeks in the fall and spring and culminate with a 500m race for the SandRidge Cup on the Oklahoma River!
